Adaptive Snowsports – for people with disabilitiesProviding support for people with physical, sensory and cognitive impairments. This program ensures there is no limit to enjoying the freedom of skiing and boarding with your family and friends.

It is essential that you book in advance to guarantee the support you require is available. Half day lessons are recommended for first time sit skiers (mono and bi ski) to ensure the equipment is fitted correctly. Up to two others are welcome to join your lesson to discover how best to provide on-snow support. * Please note DSNZ members who make a request for a specific instructor for a private lesson ("private request) pay 75% of Non Member rates. Group Lessons Group lessons are available at the discretion of the adaptive coordinator, please click here for more information. Participants will need to be of a similar ability level and use the same equipment. Group lessons are not recommended for first timers. Maximum of 4-6 people depending on ability and volunteer availability 2008 Disabled Snowsports Festival & National Championships Cardrona is a major sponsors of the 2008 Disabled Snowsports Festival & Championships which will be held at Cardrona from 27 July to 1 August 2008. This event is the highlight of the disabled snowsports winter calendar, offering instruction and coaching for recreational skiers/boarders with social and elite level events for the competitive skier/boarder and après ski in the evenings. The week closes with an awards dinner celebrating the achievements and successes of participants. Entry to the Festival & Championships is open to all ages and ability of skiers and boarders with a disability. More information about the Festival and a registration form will be available from Disabled Snowsports NZ Volunteer Assistance Thanks to the support of the Central Lakes Trust, the Community Trust of Otago and Disabled Snowsports New Zealand, the Adaptive Programme provides trained volunteers who offer complimentary on-snow support for people requiring assistance to access the mountain. As volunteers are not based on the mountain it is essential that individuals or groups wishing to use this service book in advance. Their programmes help to remove participation barriers and encourage people with physical or intellectual disabilities to get in involved in snowsports.
